August 25th, 2009...

Hi all!
Well, lets see.. what is new with me...
I am getting hyped about a Vegas trip with my new Breast Cancer sisters! Four days.. We are going to have such a great time. About 20 of us going! Five of my dear ladies are not going.. which I HATE.. but maybe next year...:)
I have gotten back to work full time.. that is nice..:)
I only have 3 more Herceptin treatments.. that is nice.. and scary. I want this past 1 1/2 to be over, yet it is scary to be off the meds... I just have the faith that the Lord has healed me... and move on..
I will be having another bone scan Sept. 8th. If you could say a prayer for me.. that I am still NED.. ( No evidence of Disease) I would be so grateful. Prayer is why I am still around today.
Ummmmmmm... lets see...My Grandson Landon is turning 3 yrs old. WOW.. it seems like he was just born... HAPPY BIRTHDAY LANDON!
I hear my son is playing drums in a little band just like his father does.. those two.. so much alike.. I wonder when they themselves will see this..:)
Taylor has started college..:).. he wants to teach secondary edu. We'll see what subject he picks...He would make a great teacher to middle school kids...

Well, you all have a blessed week and I will update the blog as things come up!
I volunteer to cut and shape cancer patients wigs at my Hair Salon. If you know anyone who needs this service.. let me know. It is free and I am willing to meet them after hours or on Sundays so it is private for them.

Well, finally.. back to work full time. It only took a year and two months. LOL
I am still in treatment, Herceptin, but it is a very doable schedule. If all holds in place, an these next scans of mine are good , I should be finished with treatment at the end of October. I will then just have scans every three months of a year, then ever six months for about 4 more yrs.. then once a yr the reast of my life. I think that is all doable.. how about you? I am ready to move on.
Surgery went very well.. very easy.
I am still having a lot of pain from radiation. All through my ribs , front and back. This may be a new way of life for me though. Oh well, at least I am alive!
I thank you for all your prayers for me and my family.
I have the grandkids more now that my d-i-l is finishing her education. THis time next yr, she should be teaching 1st 2nd or 3rd grade....:) She will be great at it!
THANK God my son graduated in April! Wahooooooooooooooooooooo... so after she is done... their lives should slow down a little..:)... I love helping them anyway I can.. these little babies are very lucky to have so many people love them and want only the best for them and their parents!

Hello all... One week out of surgery... I feel good..nanananana...

I go for my check up tomorrow with me Plastic... I think all is well.. Hopefully he will let me get back to working out because I found out today.. I have lost 2 pds..wahooooo... seem minor.. but when you gain 16 pds AFTER chemo but THANKS to chemo... 2 pds off mean what you are doing is FINALLY working..wahoooooooooo... actually.. I only have 11 pds to get off and I will be back to my normal pre-cancer weight... here's hoping!

I will be back to work August 6th. By the grace of God I will have no reason to take off for this cancer crap again....Wahoooooooooo

You all have been wonderfully supportive! If you ever know anyone, going through this, have them call me. I can help them go through it if they want the help.

Well... have a BLESSED week and I will update soon......
Gods Love,
Laura

Hello my dear family and friends...
Well, I did it...
I had, what I hope, is my last surgery....My port is gone... and so are those rock hard saline implants.. wahoooooooo... silicone all the way baby! All I can say is.. I look PRETTY!!! ~blush~

Funny aside...
I feel good.. strong... and am looking forward to ending this journey if it is Gods will. I have about 5-6 more Herceptin treatments and two more sets of full body scans this year. So, in 2010... I should only be doing every three month checks. Praise God!

Thank you for so much support this past year.. what would I have done without you all????

My advice:
Take all medical matters into your own hands... muster up TOUGH . Give yourself a week to mourn, be scared, sad and mad.... then... Get busy Living. Do mucho research.. question your doctors .. take someone with you to hear all with you..if any one doctor tells you " this is your only choice"... get more and more opinions.. do NOT just believe. And mostly... Our cups are either half empty, or half full... this is how it is.. and it is OUR CHOICE! You choose how you accept life.. how you react...I CHOSE half full..STAY POSITIVE and know how you feel is a CHOICE!(This was taught to me by my mom.....)

Gods Love to all,
Laura
